Poly-substance abuse is the use of three or more groups of addictive substances over a period of 12 months. It occurs when an individual abuses several substances over a short period of time, often in an attempt to enhance the effect of a single drug to create a more intense high. Clients at Grants Pass Treatment Center are medically treated specifically for opiate addiction; in addition the treatment center offers counseling for poly-substance abuse. The length of the treatment program is determined by how long and what type of substance dependence the client has, any underlying mental illness, the client’s desire to change and willingness to undergo treatment, the client’s support system and plans for ongoing care.

Family Counseling is offered to the clients at Grants Pass Treatment Center. Family counseling is a treatment program to provide professional guidance to members of a family concerning a client’s substance abuse. Whatever the exact issue a family is facing, there are many ways the treatment center can help families understand substance abuse.

Couples Counseling is offered to the clients at Grants Pass Treatment Center. Couples counseling is a treatment program to provide professional guidance designed for married or cohabiting clients seeking help for drug abuse. The treatment center meets with the substance abusing client together with the spouse or partner. Research shows couples counseling produces better relationship functioning and benefits substance abusing clients and their families.

Medication-assisted treatment combines therapy, medications and support from family and friends to treat substance use disorders. Medication-assisted treatment is one way to help those with opioid addiction recover their lives. Opioid addiction is a chronic disease. A chronic disease is a medical condition for life. An individual with an opioid addiction can regain a healthy, productive life with medication assisted treatment.

Initial and annual physical exams are part of the assessments provided by Grants Pass Treatment Center. The exams are completed to find out about the client’s general health. It also checks for diseases that are common to individuals who have been abusing drugs. After the physical exam, the physician discusses treatment choices with the individual, who may include family or friends in the discussion.

Grants Pass Treatment Center offers laboratory tests to assess the client’s physical health. Clients may enter treatment with un-diagnosed or untreated medical conditions. The treatment center has arrangements with local community health centers to assist the client with seeking medical treatment for any medical condition. The laboratory tests include routine tests for syphilis, TB and recent drug use.

Grants Pass Treatment Center requires thorough initial and ongoing assessments which include drug testing. This is usually a check of urine for substances. These tests are used for monitoring treatment and recovery, they are not diagnostic tests.

Grants Pass Treatment Center provides counseling to offer encouragement and motivation to remain in substance abuse treatment. Counseling can teach the client coping skills and how to prevent relapse. Counseling also helps the client’s learn to make healthy choices, handle setbacks and stress, and move forward in their lives.
